I want to show you something important. I see many owners do great work, but AI tools still share old facts about them. A move last month. New weekend hours. A phone number change. AI misses it. Customers get bad info. You lose trust. Let me fix that with you today.
Why an Updates & Announcements page matters
Here is what I see every day: you post a change on social media, maybe send an email, and then move on. Weeks later, ChatGPT still talks about your old location. Why? Because AI needs one clear, stable page where your latest news lives. It checks that page again and again. If you do not have it, AI guesses. And guesses hurt.
Think of this page like a front door sign that never comes down. It tells AI, “Here is what changed. Here is when. Here is what to use now.” It reduces wrong answers fast.
Do this today: decide to make one page called “Updates & Announcements.” The URL can be yoursite.com/updates.
What to include on the page
Keep it simple. Put the most recent update at the top. Each update should have:
- ▸A short title that names the change
- ▸A clear date (year-month-day is best)
- ▸One or two lines on what changed and who it affects
- ▸Start and end dates if it is temporary
- ▸A link to more details, if you have one
- ▸A status line like “Active” or “Ended”
What counts as an update? New hours. Holiday closures. Moving to a new address. A new phone or email. New products or services. Price changes. Delivery or pickup changes. A new region you serve. Anything that would change what AI should tell a customer.
If you have a big, time-sensitive change (like a move or outage), pin it at the top for 30 days. Then mark it “Ended” and keep it in the list for history.
Do this today: write your last three real updates as bullets on a draft page. Add dates and one-sentence summaries.
How to write each update so AI understands
Use plain words. Avoid hype. Name your business and city in the summary. This helps AI connect the update to you.
Use this simple template:
- ▸Title: “New Saturday hours for May 2026”
- ▸Date: 2026-05-01
- ▸Summary: “Bright Bean Coffee, Seattle: open 8:00–14:00 on Saturdays in May at 123 Pine St.”
- ▸Affects: “In-store visits”
- ▸Start: 2026-05-04
- ▸End: 2026-05-31
- ▸Status: Active (then change to Ended later)
- ▸More details: link to your Hours page
If an update ends, keep it on the page but switch Status to Ended. AI learns your pattern and trusts your current note at the top.
Do this today: copy the template above into your page and fill it for one real change.
Where to place and link it
Put “Updates” in your main menu and your footer. Use a short, clean URL: /updates or /news. At the top of the page, add “Last updated: YYYY-MM-DD.” That small line signals freshness to both people and AI.
Link your Updates page from your Google Business Profile, your Instagram bio, your LinkedIn page, and your email footer. When you post a change on social, also add it to the Updates page. One source. Many channels.
If you send a newsletter, link to the page, not only to the post. AI will crawl the page over time, but not your email.
Do this today: add a visible “Updates” link to your main menu and footer.
Keep it fresh and check if AI sees it
Make a 10-minute habit once a month. Scan the page. Move old items down. Mark ended items as Ended. Confirm the top item is your real current change. Short and steady wins here.
When you publish a new update, say the change in the first line. Use dates with the year. Avoid words like “today” or “recently.” Use “Start date” and “End date” labels if the change is temporary.
Then test if AI sees it. Ask: “What changed recently at [Your Business] in [City]?” or “What are the current hours and location for [Your Business]?” If AI misses your update, give it the page URL and ask again. You should see a fix.
I built FoxRadar for this exact check. In 60 seconds, you can see if ChatGPT, Gemini, or Grok know your brand and if they reference your pages. It is fast and clear.
Do this today: publish your page, then ask an AI the two questions above. If answers are wrong, share the Updates URL and try again.
Take one minute now. Check your brand on FoxRadar at getfoxradar.com. If your Updates page is missing, add it today and see the change in your AI visibility.
