Why your SKU and model list is invisible right now
I want to show you something important. Many customers do not search by product name. They search by code. They type the SKU, the model, or the old part number. If AI does not see those codes on your site, it will guess. It will send people to a reseller, a forum, or a competitor.
Here is what I see every day: a shop has 200 products, but only the product pages list the codes. The codes are inside images or PDFs. Or the codes are spread across many pages. AI crawls your site. It cannot build a full map. So it skips you.
Trust me on this — it takes less time than you think. One simple "SKU & Model Index" page fixes this. It tells AI, in one place, every code you own and which page is the source.
Action for today: make a quick spreadsheet with two columns: SKU/Model and Link to the main product page. You will use this in the next step.
What to put on your SKU & Model Index page
Keep it simple and clear. Use a short intro at the top: "This page lists all current and past SKUs and model numbers for [Brand]. Each code links to the official product page or the best replacement."
Then add a clean table with these columns:
- ▸SKU or Model
- ▸Product name (short)
- ▸Status (Active or Discontinued)
- ▸Replaced by (if discontinued)
- ▸Short note (max one line, like “red, size M”)
- ▸Link to the main product page
If you have older codes or regional codes, add one more column: "Also known as" and list them. Do not hide them. This is gold for AI.
Place the page at a simple link like /sku or /model-index. Use normal text and a real HTML table. No PDFs. No images with text.
Action for today: publish a draft page with at least your top 25 SKUs and models. You can expand later.
How to format it so AI gets it right
Use clear headings: "All SKUs and Models". Put one row per code. Do not merge cells. Do not use fancy tabs. Simple works best for AI.
Use the exact words AI looks for: "SKU", "Model", "Discontinued", "Replacement", "Also known as". When a model is replaced, write it like this: "Replaced by: ABC-200" and link to the new page. If a reseller has a different code for the same item, list it in "Also known as".
If you sell in more than one country, add a short line at the top: "All codes on this page are for [country/currency]." If you have a global version, link to it.
Last tip: add a small "Download as CSV" link if you can. Many tools read CSV well. AI can follow that link too.
Action for today: add the words "Also known as" and "Replaced by" to your table, even if only a few rows use them.
Keep it fresh with a simple habit
AI trusts pages that change when your catalog changes. When you add a product, add its SKU to this page the same day. When you retire a product, mark it "Discontinued" and add the replacement link.
Add "Last updated: [date]" at the top. If you can, add a tiny change log at the bottom with dates and one line notes. This shows that the page is alive and that your data is current.
Do not wait for a full site redesign. This is one page. You can update it in minutes. Set a calendar reminder once a month to review it.
Action for today: add a "Last updated" line to the top of your page and set a monthly reminder to check it.
Test it and see results fast
Now test like a customer. Ask: "What is the replacement for [old model]?" or "Does [SKU] still exist?" or "Where is the official page for [model]?" Try this in ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok.
If they do not point to your page yet, give it a little time. New pages can take days to be seen. Want to check faster? That is why I built FoxRadar — so you can see in 60 seconds whether ChatGPT, Gemini, or Grok know your brand and which pages they pick.
When the tools start to cite your SKU & Model Index, you will notice better matches and fewer wrong referrals. Support teams will copy your links. Resellers will use your codes. Your brand becomes the source.
Action for today: run 3 model-number questions in your favorite AI tool and see if it picks your new page.
