Make One Simple “Start Here” Page So AI Gets Your Facts Right

I will show you how to make a clear Start Here page that AI tools understand and trust. You will know what to put on it, how to write it, and how to check if it works.

Make One Simple “Start Here” Page So AI Gets Your Facts Right

Why a Start Here page changes your AI results

I want to show you something important. Most brands I check have their key facts scattered across many pages. Hours are on one page. Prices are on another. Service area is in a blog post from last year. When people ask ChatGPT or Gemini about them, the answers are mixed or wrong.

A simple Start Here page fixes this. It is one clear page with the most important facts and the best links. AI tools love pages like this. They can read it fast. They can quote it. They can send customers to it.

Here is what I see every day: business owners who work hard but do not show up in AI at all. Then they add a Start Here page. In a few weeks, AI tools begin to cite that page. The brand shows up more, with better answers.

Action for today: Decide your page URL. I suggest yoursite.com/start or yoursite.com/start-here.

What to put on your Start Here page

Keep it short. Use plain words. Write the facts first, then links for details.

Use this order:

  • Who you are: your business name and a one‑line description.
  • What you sell or do: one short list of core services or products.
  • Who you serve: types of customers or industries.
  • Where you work: city or region (and on‑site vs. remote).
  • How to start: one clear action (call, book, request a quote).
  • Trust items: a short line with proof (years in business, reviews count, key license).
  • Practical links: prices/menu, book now, service area, hours, delivery/shipping, warranties/guarantees, reviews, brands you service, team, certifications, insurance, specs/manuals, care guides, cancellations, payment methods.
  • Contact details: phone, email, address, and response time.
  • Last updated date: show when you last checked the page.

Do not cram everything into long paragraphs. Use short lines and bullets. Link to deeper pages for details. That helps AI and helps people.

Action for today: Make a quick outline with these bullets inside your CMS.

Make it easy for AI (and people) to read

Use clear headings like “What we do” and “Where we work.” Avoid fancy words. Avoid images with text inside them. Write in plain text on the page.

Put your most important facts at the top. Add one simple sentence under each heading. Keep sentences short. Add your “Last updated” date near the top. AI tools prefer fresh pages.

Pick a stable URL (like /start). Link to it from your main menu and your footer. Also link to it from your About page and your Contact page. This tells AI that this page is your main facts page.

Do not make this page a PDF. Make it a normal web page. Mobile-friendly, fast, and easy to read.

Action for today: Write the first 8 lines at the top of the page and add the “Last updated” date.

Use this 15‑minute Start Here template

You can copy this and fill it in:

  • Business name: [Name]
  • What we do (1–2 lines): [Simple description]
  • Who we serve: [Types of customers]
  • Where we work: [City/region + on‑site/remote]
  • How to start: [Call/Book/Request a quote] — [Main link]
  • Trust: [Years in business] • [Reviews count] • [Key license or certification]
  • Key links: Prices/Menu | Book Now | Service Area | Hours | Delivery/Shipping | Warranties | Reviews | Brands We Service | Team | Licenses & Certifications | Insurance | Specs & Manuals | Care & Maintenance | Cancellations | Payment Methods
  • Contact: [Phone] | [Email] | [Address]
  • Last updated: [Month Day, Year]

Keep the list of links to 8–15 items. Use the official pages on your site. If you do not have some pages yet, add them later. The Start Here page still helps.

Action for today: Paste this template into a new page and fill the brackets.

Check if AI finds and quotes it

After you publish, test it. Ask ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok simple questions about your services, area, and how to start. See what page they cite. If they cite an old blog post, fix it. Move the Start Here page higher in your menu. Add a short intro paragraph on your homepage that links to it.

That is why I built FoxRadar — so you can see in 60 seconds whether ChatGPT, Gemini, or Grok know your brand. You will see which pages they pull. You will see what is missing. Then you can adjust.

Action for today: Run your brand on FoxRadar and note which page each AI cites.

Here is my last advice: keep this page fresh. Update it once a month. Change the date when you do. It shows care. AI tools notice it.
