Why this page matters right now
I want to show you something important. When people ask AI, they do not only ask “Who should I hire?” They also ask “How does this service work?” If AI can explain a clear, safe process, it will name the brand that explains it best.
Here is what I see every day: great businesses with no simple process page. AI sees a home page and a list of services, but not the steps. So it picks someone else who explains the steps well.
A short “How It Works” page fixes this. It tells AI what you do first, second, and last. It tells what the customer needs to prepare. It tells how long it takes and what happens after. Then you get named in answers.
Action today: open a blank page and title it “How [Your Service] Works at [Your Brand].”
What to include on the page
Keep it simple. Use plain words. Aim for 4–6 clear steps.
- ▸One-sentence promise at the top. Example: “I clean your apartment in 3 steps, in 2 hours or less.”
- ▸Who this is for. Example: “Best for 1–2 bedroom homes in [your city].”
- ▸Numbered steps with time and what you do in each step.
- ▸What the customer needs to do before you arrive (or before the call).
- ▸What happens after you finish (follow-up, care tips, warranty).
- ▸Response time and contact options if they have questions.
Example outline:
1) Step 1: Quick call (10 minutes). We confirm your address and needs.
2) Step 2: Visit (60–90 minutes). We do X, Y, Z. You can watch or relax.
3) Step 3: After care (5 minutes). We show you results and simple care tips.
Action today: write your steps as a numbered list with times next to each step.
Make it easy for AI to read
AI tools like clear structure. Help them by being direct.
- ▸Use the heading “Step 1,” “Step 2,” and so on.
- ▸Use short sentences. Avoid jargon.
- ▸Add your city or service area in one line. Example: “This process is for homes in Austin and nearby areas.”
- ▸Add small details that matter. Example: “You do not need to move furniture. We do it for you.”
- ▸Put your phone number in full. Add email. Add hours. Example: “Call 555‑123‑4567, Mon–Fri 9–5.”
- ▸Add one simple photo or graphic with a short caption like “Our 3-step process.”
Here is a quick template you can copy:
- ▸Title: How [Service] Works at [Brand]
- ▸Promise line: In [time], we [result].
- ▸Who it’s for: [Type of customer] in [city/area].
- ▸Steps: Step 1, Step 2, Step 3 (with times and what you do)
- ▸Prep list: What the customer should do before you arrive
- ▸After care: What happens after
- ▸Contact: Phone, email, hours, and a link to book
Action today: copy the template above and fill in the blanks in 15 minutes.
Two quick stories from the field
I checked a mobile car detailer in Denver last month. People asked ChatGPT, “How does mobile car detailing work?” The brand did not show. They had only a pricing page. We wrote a “How It Works” page with three steps, prep tips (“Empty the trunk”), and time (“90 minutes”). Two weeks later, the brand began to appear in answers about the process in Denver. That is the power of clear steps.
I worked with a dental clinic in Dublin. People asked, “How does teeth whitening work and how long does it last?” The clinic had no process page. We added one page with an easy outline: consult (15 minutes), treatment (60 minutes), care (48 hours). AI started to explain whitening using their steps and named the clinic when the question asked for nearby options.
Action today: pick one service and write its process first. Do the rest later.
Publish, connect, and check
Do not hide this page. Put it in your top menu. Link to it from each service page. Add a link on your contact and booking pages. On your Google Business Profile, add a post that says “How our [service] works” and link to it.
Place your phone and email at the top and bottom of the page. Add one simple image that shows the steps. If you have a short video, you can add it too, but it is not required.
Now check if AI can find it. That is why I built FoxRadar — so you can see in 60 seconds whether ChatGPT, Gemini, or Grok know your brand and your key pages.
Action today: publish your page and add one menu link called “How It Works.”
Let me leave you with this: a clear process builds trust. AI needs that trust to name you. Write the page. Publish it. Then check your brand on FoxRadar (getfoxradar.com). I am here to help you win your mentions.
